// changelog
v1.17.1
README.md is cut down to a front door page — commitbrief.com/docs is now the documentation source of truth — and docs-check gained a leak-lint pass that fails the build on internal maintainer traces or stray version references.
Released September 23, 2026
Changed
- README.md cut from 1250 lines to a front door (tagline, Why, Install, Quick start, provider list, docs map, Stability, Contributing, License). commitbrief.com is now the documentation source of truth; reference material that used to live in the README — command surface, configuration, filtering, MCP server, policy gate, credential audit, and more — has a home under commitbrief.com/docs.
docs-checkis re-scoped to two layers: the existing code -> generated surface-inventory drift check, plus a new README.md leak-lint pass that fails the build on internal maintainer traces and prose version traces such as “Since v1.17.0” or “(v1.7.0)”.
Removed
- The Markdown-rendering engine that used to splice the surface inventory
into README’s generated regions, and the tests that exercised it.
--gen-surfaceand the underlying surface inventory are unchanged.
